Weekends never get old.

Ah, I wish weekends could last longer. Sleepy babies, grand adventures/REI store openings, little people birthday parties, yes please.

Friday night I went to a wonderful event at our church- the Annual Women's Coffee House. This is probably one of my favorite things in the entire year. Hundreds of Jesus-loving, lovely-hearted women, gathered in one place with coffee, desserts, speakers, and music.

The theme this year was, "Today's surrender is tomorrow's freedom." Each speaker spoke beautifully about times of surrender in their lives and how the Lord is faithful and good when we surrender what we cling tightly to. However, there was once thought, really an afterthought, that caught me the most. The final speaker was a beautiful young woman named Christy Jo who is dying of cancer. She found Christ when a couple from our church were bold enough to share the gospel with her as they went through her check-out lane at the grocery store.

I want to be bold like that. To be unafraid to be used by God. It is beautiful and worthy.

When I got home from the coffee house, Jimi headed out to camp at the new REI in West Des Moines. Ha...yup. He and a few buddies played games all night and slept in hammocks in front of the store. Lizzy and I arrived in the morning and had a lot of fun. Then she fell asleep. I swear, there is sweet, sweet sleepy dust in an Ergo carrier. Love it!

The fellas :) They're a good group.

Last we went to a first birthday party for one of our favorite little guys- Clive. Lizzy loves Clive. (And we extra extra love his parents ;) Derek and Robin are some of our best pals. We lived in their basement for a few months before we found our house. It was like have college roommates all over again. Which was a blast.

Sometimes you just gotta get after a chocolate chip cookie at your bestie's birthday party.

Then Sunday Jimi got sick. Which was a bummer. But he's better now. So yay! Here's to the next weekend. Can't wait for it to get here!
