We have survived our first solo family vacation (without grandparents...who we missed very much!)! We made it back mostly intact- 15 month old, creeper mustache, and all. (More on the creeper mustache below. It's for a good cause. Promise.)

Our first stop was for a speeding ticket. In Nebraska. How does that even happen? Merf. Anyways. But our first planned stop was in Boulder, CO. After a few hours and some yummy sandwhiches there, we headed to our AirBNB in Loveland, CO. If you've never checked out AirBNB, I HIGHLY recommend it. We got a fantastic two bedroom condo for less than we would have paid for a hotel. Check out the condo we stayed in here.

The next day we went to Estes Park for some fantastic hiking. We did a 3 mile (6 mile round trip) trail from Glacier Falls trailhead to The Loch (picture above). It was a beautiful hike. Since it was the holiday weekend it was pretty busy, but we didn't get stuck behind anybody until we were on our way down. Lizzy fell asleep as soon as she got in the carrier. Ha!

My handsome man and sweet baby girl at 10,00 feet! Everyone who passed us commented on our carrier. No, random person, you cannot have a ride. Sorry.

Next, we headed to Santa Fe.

We got Lizzy some moccasins. I love them. She's worn them everyday. (Sorry kid.)

After Santa Fe, we headed to Glorieta- a camp about 15 minutes away. Jimi's cousin is the executive director of this amazing (HUGE!) camp. You can learn more about it here. It is a Christian camp that lives out the gospel through adventure, authentic relationships, and the truth of the Word. We're praying about whether or not God might have a place for us out there one of these days. There were so many fun activities. Lizzy loved it and we did too. It's hard to describe the experience of Family Camp...the best I can do is this- It's like a cruise...minus the boat. :) All the meals are provided, the hotel rooms are cleaned for you, child care is provided, and you get to spend great time with family and friends. It's wonderful.

Lizzy's favorite thing was this giant foam pit. By the end of the week she was jumping in by herself. I couldn't even get a decent picture because she wouldn't quit moving (see above!)

She also worked on her Robin Hood skillz while Daddy played archery tag. Basically you shoot your friends with padded arrows. I wanted to shoot Jimi. But I didn't. But I should have.

And we even had a Western night. So fun.

The mustache is in full swing here, so I should explain why that nasty is on my husband's lip. He is leveraging the power of the mustache to raise money for adoption. And I am begging you- please give money so it can go away! He is trying to raise $300. Click here to donate. Last year through this program our church was able to raise $75K to help 15 families complete their adoptions.

Our first real family vacation is in the books. We learned a lot and we had so much fun. We're tired and the Jeep is still covered in red dirt. And we couldn't be happier.

I'll do a post soon about traveling long distances with a toddler...that was...interesting.
