Lizzy's first camping trip is in the books! She did great. Here's how it all went down:
6:00 PM- Jimi gets home from work and we pack up the car and leave.
6:10 PM- Stop for Qdoba. We considered cooking at our site. But why?
7:00 PM- Arrive at Acorn Valley Camground near Sailorville Lake, just north of Des Moines. Jimi picks a site. It takes approximately 100,000 minutes for the lady to explain all the rules. Gah.
Forever later- (Ok 7:15 PM)- Pull up to site 61 and unload and eat. Lizzy picks all the clover and is giddy with the "Outside"
8:00 PM- Get the tent set up while Lizzy plays. We just lay in the tent and watch her.

8:15 PM- Walk around the park and remember that we need to get site 82 next time!
8:30 PM- Swat at all the bugs.
8:31PM- All the bugs are attacking. Oil up with Tea Tree and Peppermint. Still got a couple bites, but it could have been a log worse.
8:32 PM- Scratch bug bites.
9:00 PM- Brush teeth and bed time. We all crawl in the tent and Lizzy continues crawling. And kicking. And yelling.

10:00 PM- After one "This was a terrible idea," every one is asleep.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
6:00 AM- I wake up. I look at my people and think, "Dang. I'm blessed."

7:00 AM- Lizzy and Jimi wake up. We all have awesome bedhead (not pictured.)
7:30 AM- Crawl out of the tent and make coffee. Noms.

8:00 AM- Lizzy remembers that she usually goes to bed 3 hours earlier and starts to get cranky.
8:30 AM- We pack up the car.
8:45 AM- Pull out of the campground
9:30 AM- Arrive home. Lizzy is passed out. Transfer to the crib for a 3.5 hour nap! WINNING!
And that was it. It certainly wasn't our most eventful camping trip, but the only real goal was to spend the whole night outside. And we did. So proud of my girl and so thankful to Jimi for being such a good sport while getting kicked in the face all night by a toddler.
We had fun. We really did. And we're soooo doing it again.
